What We Do
For thousands of seniors who are healthy enough to be living independently, the simplest tasks in their homes become unmanageable or even dangerous. Things we take for granted our whole lives, become things that are challenging, sometimes even deadly. Many lives are cut short due to slips on area rugs, a fall in the bathroom, a misunderstanding about medicine or overlooking a leak, mold, or overloaded electrical outlets. Being overwhelmed by grocery shopping, going to a doctor’s appointment, loneliness, or even cutting their own toenails often ultimately prevents healthy seniors from being able to stay in their homes as they age.
At HomeAssist, we care, and because of that, we visit you, or your senior loved one, and spot the things that have become challenging, frightening, or threatening to your safety and we are here to help. Either daily, weekly, or one-time visit, we’ll create a schedule that meets your needs.
- Visits last anywhere from 2-3 hours
- Visits are once a week or more
- Background checks conducted for all our staff
- We can record the visit or Facetime with the family member
Hi, I'm Liz, Founder of HomeAssist Senior Visits.
I started HomeAssist Senior Visits after my dad, who has since passed away, was healthy enough to be living on his own and did not need any nursing care, but was requiring help with some chores that had always been very easy for him. I started noticing that bills, that had always been paid immediately, were piling up and he even received a couple of disconnection notices. Like most elderly people, he was taking several medications and I suspected he was mixing up two of them that had similar names – one that was supposed to be taken once a day and the other three times times a day. It was time to find a responsible, intelligent, caring person to come to see him once a week, lay out his medications for the week, and just touch base on a number of normal, household chores and potential dangers in his home. It was the smartest decision I ever made. He looked forward to her visit and she was my eyes and ears when I wasn’t able to be there. The decision potentially saved his life and, after he died, I knew that this was something that every older person living alone needed.
~ Liz.
